Global trading company STX will export Korea's first wheeled armored vehicle.

STX announced on the 22nd that they signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Peruvian Army Arsenal (FAME S.A.C., a military weapons manufacturing institution) for a power enhancement project at the Peruvian Army Headquarters (Pentagonito) on the 20th (local time).

The signing ceremony was attended by high-level officials from both countries, including STX CEO Sang-jun Park, Hyundai Rotem CEO Yong-bae Lee, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, Defense Minister Walter Astudillo Chávez, FAME Board Chairman Lieutenant General Orestes Vargas, and South Korean Ambassador to Peru Jong-wook Choi.

Through this contract, STX has gained a priority position to supply defense and special-purpose vehicles as a strategic partner of the Peruvian Army and will primarily supply wheeled armored vehicles based on the 'K808 Baekho,' a standard model of the Korean Army.

As a result, 30 units of the first batch (worth 60 million USD, approximately 82 billion KRW) of a total of 120 wheeled armored personnel carriers are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2025. Various derivative models, such as infantry fighting vehicles, command vehicles, and anti-aircraft defense vehicles, will also be supplied through further discussions.

Moreover, in collaboration with the Peruvian Arsenal, STX has secured a position to prioritize the supply of various military and special vehicles ordered by the Peruvian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Police.

Peruvian President Dina Boluarte said, "Today, we are witnessing a significant milestone in strengthening Peru's industrial capabilities, including the defense sector. FAME, STX, and Hyundai Rotem will jointly produce army wheeled armored vehicles, leading to the delivery of various special vehicles in the future."

STX CEO Sang-jun Park stated, "We are grateful for the support from the Korean Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency). This strategic partnership agreement is significant as it expands our presence in the army defense market following the navy. We will continue to expand our defense business based on the expertise we have accumulated so far."

Ambassador Jong-wook Choi added, "The signing of this contract between the Peruvian Army Arsenal, STX, and Hyundai Rotem will open a new future for security and defense industry cooperation between the two countries."

Meanwhile, STX has been continuously involved in the Peruvian patrol boat project since 2013, worth approximately 120 million USD, and has been conducting defense business in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa for over 10 years, including the delivery of CPVs (coastal patrol vessels) to Colombia.
